Mask off instruments in dashboard before beginning any work. Apply ground paint and let it dry. Put on graining color with a dry brush as possible. Wipe excess color . Spread color this to avoid runs. Do not worry about brush marks. Streaks and brush marks are even an advantage. Work the brush almost dry before redripping. After covering the work, let the colour set for about 10 minutes. If you find that an excess amount of paint has sagged to the bottom of work , go over it with the same brush without dripping. Work from the bottom up. This will redistribute the color most evenly. One method of graining with cutdown paint brush – first hold the brush almost at right angles to the work. Press down hard, spreading the bristles while you draw the brush through the wet graining color. You can get more naturally looking color variations by twisting and weaving the brush as you pull it along into the grain lines. On the window frames of your car, run the grain horizontally along the top and bottom components.
