The suspension’s job is to provide the vehicle’s passengers with the most comfortable ride in their car and as well to provide drivers with the best possible road handling. Its quite a feat to achieve this. Suspension designs vary widely , but include similar components: springs , shock absorbers struts and metal arms. These parts , often assisted by a computer of sorts are combined in various sizes and shapes in both the front and rear sections of your automobile be it car , truck , bus , van or SUV.
The difference between the front and rear suspension components , is largely determined by their task and tasks. Since the rear wheels do not steer, they have fewer angles to contend with. But the amount of weight that has to distributed properly by the rear suspension varies than it does for the front end, And in rear wheel drive cars, the rear also has to transfer the turning power of the engine.
Before the days of rubber tires, every bump and every rock and uneven bit of Canadian roadway was transferred directly through the wheels to the sears. With the development of air filled rubber tires. passengers were isolated from rough road surfaces. Air filled tires , however generated a lot of unwanted bounce around for the vehicle’s passengers. To isolate passengers from this movement , different types of springs and shock absorbers were developed.
