Saab has and had worked steadily on turbocharging its vehicles for many years now. Drive ability and power have been all increased steadily and thoroughly while adding new applications and benefits while maintaining consistency , durability and reliability. One of the major hallmarks of implementation of these efforts was the Trollhattan – the light pressure turbo which used lower pressure boost pressure ( just 6 psi / pounds per inch), to wind up a 2.3 4 liter engine . The results were more than spectacular. Full boost in the 225 bhp barrel horsepower turbo equipped engine in the 9000 Aero series were more than impressive , at that time point in the automotive industry. The power band was wider , the turbo curve was flatter than preceding Saab turbo equipped vehicle models. There were three 3 models overall – the 9,000CS series , the 9,000CDE Sedan was discontinued , so it can be said that all the remaining 9,000 Series Saabs of that era were “hatchback” models – all very spacious, very spacious indeed.
