Auto Industry North American vs Home Grown Japanese

           The auto industry is important not only to “factory towns” but to the very core of your local economy as well.  The automotive industry is more than vital all across the county entry.

It as not as though we have the setup of the Japanese, where the sales office is located simply in a commercial office building similar to a small business.  The salesperson’s job is to “call” on his clients on a regular basis – inquiring how many children , the car or auto , how many parking spots and at what point in time the car is due for its major ( read teardown) mandatory inspection.  Are the kids graduating soon, ready to purchase a vehicle?  Do they have key availability of an actual parking spot?  Is the parking place documented?  It is said that the only way to get rid of your “assigned “auto sales agent in Japan is to emigrate from the country itself.

The difference, along with cultural norms, is of a mandatory major inspection whose job it is to provide for replacement of the vehicle – resulting in almost mandated new vehicle purchases by the Japanese car consumer.  One might say that this supports the indigenous Japanese auto industry – and to a great extent has performed this function well.
