Toyota Toyota Toyota the debacle continues
In the financial field the question becomes as an investment with all of the pummeling of Toyota stock is Toyota as an auto brand and stock still or is it a “wise idea” or a “Wise investment”
No doubt Toyota in an advertising or marketing sense is branded and has certainly earned its branding as an auto brand in and on the automotive marketplace
People used to buy GM General Motors vehicle due to resale that according to automotive industry sales veteran long time analyst and Monday morning quarterback as to why to purchase a GM vehicle as opposed to other domestic automotive manufacturers – Chrysler , Ford and at one time American Motors AMC products that your vehicle always commanded good and better resale value than most since “someone always wanted to buy your car.”
The same could be said for Toyota and its sister upscale automotive product Lexus
GM may have lost this cache due to ego and the inertia in the auto retail and resale markets that it thought was given by the creator itself , and could be taken advantage of abused forever.
Toyota , up until now with its latest problems , felt it was in the same situation
True the Toyota name has been sullied from its high point
Still it will take a great deal more on the product and public relations side to downsize this brand and branding at this point
It can be said that no matter what the industry or its domestic competitors say Toyota at this point has earned and still commands great consumer respect and loyalty in the automotive marketplace
Look on any American highway – especially as well the southern US states for the incidence of Toyota products on the highways and freeways and you will see in action that the greatest percentage of automobiles that are the trusted product that Americans are driving as their most reliable vehicle to be trusted in the more demanding driving on the highway and travels are Japanese – not American vehicles and of these Toyota yields the highest ratio.
It might be said that no matter what the automotive press and GM top auto execs say – that when you see a Ukrainian baba with a babushka driving a Toyota Corolla down a north end Winnipeg street
you know that GM as an automotive market and marketing powerhouse has lost market share.
