How to Save Money on Auto Car Tires
1) Drive Carefull : start and stop slowly and take it easy on turns, or Winnipeg Manitoba pavement will wear away rubber. It is best to keep off gravel and all rough roads. Avoid bumping or scraping curbs.
2) Keep the Tire Pressures Up : but not too much . Both over and underinflation shorten the life greatly of tires. Check tire pressures once a week or oftener with a good gauge. If this of difficulty to you – your local Canadian Tire store can do this. Keep valve caps on all valves.
3) Check Front Tires Regularly: Caster, camber and toe-in are all critical adjustments. Unless they are right, tires wear rapidly. Also keep brakes equalized. If one grips before the others , tires slip.
4) Why Tires Heat Up : why tires heat up when speeding over the road can be shown by stretching a rubber band and quickly touching it to your face. The strip will feel warm. Release it suddenly and it will feel cool. Rubber heat up when stretched because tension strains its molecules. It gives up heat when the strain is released. Driving stretches tires , building up heat faster than it can be dissipated.
5) Rotate the Tires: at intervals specified in your car’s manual whether it be Ford , G.M. or Toyota. Have wheels balanced with lead weights – again your Canadian Tire store can do this. If tire is taken off , put back in same wheel to drum relationship – or else rebalance the wheel.
6) Inspect Tires Frequently: for glass or tacks embedded in the rubber and stones and other objects wedged in tread. Pry these out carefully. If you find deep cuts, patch may save the tires. Clean off oil and grease promptly.
