A man can move a ton of sand from one place to another faster than a boy. A horse can move faster than a man: while an automobile engine can move it faster than a horse. Although the same amount of work is done is each case , the speed with which it is done is drastically different. Technically speaking it can be said that the man has more power than the boy, the horse can move more than the man, and the engine more than the horse. Power then , is the rate of doing the work.
